Belt speed applies across all three length classes. Capacity is quoted for a horizontal run; an inclined conveyor reduces it with the angle. Frame length, incline and whether a geared motor or an electric drum drives the belt are settled at order.
The belt conveyor moves material by friction transmission. Depending on what the conveying process needs, it can run as a single unit, as a series of conveyors, or as a horizontal or inclined system together with other handling equipment, which is what lets it fit the layout of the line rather than forcing the line to fit it.
The conveyor is made up of the frame, the conveyor belt, the belt rollers, the tensioning device and the transmission. The fuselage is connected with high quality steel, and the frame is formed by the height difference between the front and rear outriggers, so the carrying plane sits at an angle. Belt rollers and idlers are mounted on the frame to drive and support the belt. There are two ways to drive it: a geared motor, or an electric drum inside the pulley.
Seven belt widths are published, B400 to B1400, with capacity from 30-60 t/h to 300-600 t/h. Each width is quoted in three length classes - up to 12 m, 12-20 m and 20-40 m - and the motor rating rises with the class, from 1.5 kW on a short B400 to 45 kW on a 40 m B1400. Belt speed is 1.3-1.6 m/s on the narrower belts and 1.3-2 m/s from B1000 up.
To specify one: the width follows the tonnage and the largest lump, the length and incline follow the site, and the drive type follows the dust and the available space. A belt conveyor is priced per metre, because length, belt specification and drive all change with the run.
Indicative price: USD 225 – 750 per metre — across belt widths and lengths; the final price depends on width, belt specification and delivery term.
