The 2LSX models carry two screws in one tub and roughly double the capacity of the single-screw model of the same diameter.
The screw sand washer, also called a spiral washer, is the machine that handles the tonnage a wheel washer cannot. The structural layout and the sealing design are what make it run for long periods without maintenance, and it works on low water consumption and low noise.
The screw drives the sand and gravel against each other, which removes the impurities covering the grains and breaks the water vapour layer around them, so the cleaning and the dewatering happen in the same pass under a strong water flow. Separation then uses the difference in particle size and specific gravity: the fine particles settle slowly and float out with the overflow, while the coarse particles sink to the bottom of the tank, are pushed up the incline by the screw and discharged.
Four models are published. The LSX915 and LSX1115 carry a single screw of 915 mm and 1115 mm in tubs of 7585 mm and 9782 mm and wash 100 t/h and 175 t/h; the 2LSX915 and 2LSX1115 carry two screws in one tub and reach 200 t/h and 350 t/h on 2x11 kW and 2x15 kW. All four take feed up to 10 mm, with water consumption from 10-80 t/h to 40-300 t/h.
Pick the model from the tonnage, then check the water balance: the washer needs a supply that matches the figure in the table and a settling capacity for the silt it takes out. The incline of the machine and the discharge height have to suit the stockpile it feeds.
